2016年11月12日から16日にかけて、米国ルイジアナ州ニューオーリンズでAHA（アメリカ心臓協会）年次集会が開催されました。

昨年のAHAでは小松‐成田間のANA-IBEX連絡便が突然キャンセルとなり、参加者のほとんどが出国難民となったエピソードがありました。今回も歴史は繰り返され、参加者の一人が成田‐ロス便への搭乗を拒否されるという事態が発生しました！昨年に引き続き深夜の代替便を何とか確保し、ロスからニューオーリンズへの接続危機を乗り越え、無事ニューオーリンズへ全員集合となりました。
華やかな展示ブースにおいても日本循環器学会の金沢パネルはひときわ目を引くもので、金沢のピンバッチも海外の方にも人気でした。
病院展示では常連のMayo, Duke, Intermoutainなどがアピールしていました。来年の日循金沢で初めての試みとして病院展示が行われます。各病院の展示が楽しみです。
美甘レクチャーをお願いしています、Seidman氏は相変わらずパンチの効いた講演をされ、拡張型心筋症から心不全への話題で注目を集めていたようです。座長をよくみますと、あのBraunwald氏であったことからも、彼女の勢いが窺えます。
同じく日循にこられます、Palaniappan氏は危険因子の人種間での研究を進めておられ、日循でも高コレステロール血症、若年者の危険因子などの国際間比較をして頂く予定です。
Late breaking clinical trialはいつも盛況ですが、今回は特に、PCSK9阻害薬の冠動脈粥腫退縮への効果が示され予想された事とはいえ、久しぶりのpositiveな結果であったようです。
JCS-AHAジョイントシンポジウムでは、日本側からは、東京医科歯科大学の田中敏博先生が座長となり、当教室の多田隼人先生らが、Cardiovascular Geneticsの話題を提供しました。この席で、日循にも特別講演でこられるKathiresan氏も遺伝子異常の重なりとリスクについて膨大なデータを披露されていました。
