2016年3月18日より3日間に渡って第80回日本循環器学会学術集会が宮城県仙台市において開催されました。未曽有の被害をもたらした東日本大震災から5年が経過し、日本循環器学会としても第80回というメモリアルな大会となりました。被災地を訪問されていた天皇皇后両陛下が初日に学会会場に足を運んで下さるという一幕がありました。メイン会場となった仙台国際センターは仙台駅より直結し便利でしたが、会場は昨年の大阪と同様に分割されシャトルバスでの移動が必要でした。教室からは12名19演題の発表があり、活発な学術活動を行いました。中でもプレナリーセッションに1演題、シンポジウムに3演題、Featured research sessionに3演題が採択され注目を集めました。次年度の学術集会会長である山岸教授は多くのセッションの座長を務め、次年度開催に向け学会関係者との協議を精力的に行っていました。

2016年度第81回学術集会はここ金沢で開催されます（2017年3月17日～19日、会長：山岸正和）。会場では金沢開催を伝える華やかなポスターが注目を集めていました。開催までちょうど1年となり、教室員一同、鋭意準備を進めて行く決意を新たにしたところです。
期間中には医局関係者が集まり、牛タン尽くしの楽しい夜となりました。皆、臨床と研究に打ち込む毎日ですが、日常生活を少し離れた学会でざっくばらんに飲み語り合うことが次のステージへの活力となっています。
